Hollow Core Roof Slab
KCIC provides a comprehensive design planning and manufacturing service for your hollow core slab projects. Hollow core slabs are precast prestressed concrete elements produced by advanced extrusion machine technology from high strength concrete, in one continuous operation. Longitudinal cores in the section provide an efficient light weight structural  product.

The design criteria of loading and spans required determines the thickness of slab to be used, and because of the ‘hollow cores’ within the slabs they are 40-50 percent lighter than conventional cust in place reinforced slabs of similar thickness. Due to this reduced weight considerable savings can be achieve as structural frames can be constructed lighter in wheight and thus reducing sizes of foundations. Considerable savings in time are also achievable since the slab erection is done  form an immediate working platform. When grouted the effective shear key between the adjacent slabs ensures that the individual slabs act similarly to a monolithic slab and can provide a diaphragm action in resisting horizontal forces with or without structural topping.

Hollow core slabs supported in steel or masonry structures because of their excellent sound and fire resistant properties, can be used for domestic, commercial and industrial applications in fact in most cases where floors or roofs are required. Holes for MEP can be formed in the slabs during production as well as solid ends, shelf ends and open topped cores.

KCIC hollow core slabs are designed and produced to all relevant national and international codes of practice and under a strict quality controlled factory environment.

The slabs are produced in a nominal width of 1200mm and in following thicknesses : 150 MM 200 MM 265 MM 320 MM 400 MM clients/engineer prior to manufacture, showing the supporting structure, position of service entries, typical sections and loads for which the floor is designed.
