Khalid Cement Industries Complex W.L.L. (KCIC) has been awarded the NRMCA GREEN STAR Certification for its application of an Environment Management System (EMS), which considers the proper implementation of procedures and systems to conserve the environment while producing concrete.

This makes KCIC the only company in Qatar to achieve such high prestigious certification and only the second in the entire Middle East to achieve such recognition.

This certificate is presented to support the efforts of the ready mixed concrete industry that have achieved and are actively working towards environmental protection while following the principals of sustainability.

In a short period of time, KCIC became a major player in construction material production with high quality products and services. Being one of Qatar's leading suppliers of complete concrete solutions, it established itself as a major concrete production company with its 200,000 square meter main  production plant just outside Doha, Qatar.

Having plants in Industrial Area, Dukhan, Dafha and soon in Ras Laffan area, KCIC specialized in the areas of manuf acturing and selling Ready Mix concrete, Hollow Core Slabs, Concrete blocks, Interlock pavers, Precast building solutions, boundary walls and kerbstones.

As part of KCIC commitment and activity towards environmental excellence and a demonstrable reduction of environmental impacts, following the principals of  sustainability, it has implemented environmental management systems to meet ISO 14001 standards where all the activities are undertaken with the strict environmental protection measures, and all employees are trained in this, as in our other policies and procedures. To ensure that environmental impacts are controlled and minimized and that our objectives & commitments are achieved, we have established and will maintain an Environment Management System. This system is part of the overall management system for the company and will enable us to provide materials and services to society in a manner which ensures that we meet our environmental obligations.

KCIC adopts the "best practice" in the field of ready mix concrete EMS taking into consideration the implementation of measures to ensure :

Air quality (control of emissions)

Water quality and recycling (waste water treatment and recycling)

Waste management (Fresh and hard concrete and oil)

Recycling targeting near zero waste and the maximum

use of recycled waste material.

KCIC is a member of the Qatari Green Building Council and was present in many international events related to the environment and sustainability. Besides the certification accredited from the QGOSM and NRMCA KCIC is an ISO 9001-2008 certified and we aim for being certified for ISO 14001 and last but not least being accredited by the universally recognized LEED rating system. KCIC conducts periodic training programs for raising the level of awareness among the staff and employees and educating them on the latest procedures of treating waste material in a sustainable manner.

To help to build a more sustainable environment,  KCIC is focusing on Green; environmentally  friendly concrete with low carbon dioxide  emissions to produce energy saving construction.

Being one of the largest Ready Mixed Concrete  Companies in Qatar, KCIC is not only a member  of the Qatar Green Building Council but also  leading the field with the promotion of Green  sustainable concrete by introducing materials that  represent a 70% saving on carbon dioxide emission against the more traditional type of conventional concrete made from Ordinary Portland cement. Such as the production of green concrete with the use of partial cement replacements such as PFA and GGBS.
