Design Services

The main objective of the Design department is to provide all technical and design services required for all the projects in the Precast and Hollow Core division and provide technical support for other departments and divisions of KCIC.

KCIC offers a COMPLETE Design service. This does not only include the design and shop drawings of KCIC products and elements, but also the redesign of entire structures. KCIC design offers the most economical and suitable solutions using the KCIC building systems products for your building specifications. We have qualified engineers and fifteen drafts men proficient in Auto-CAD to fulfill the requirements of our customers.

Regarding domestic and international Design Standards all KCIC designs and their details are confirming to all Qatari and international building codes.This includes:
QS (Qatar Standards); ACI (American Concrete Institute); BSI (The British Standards); ICC (International Building Code); PCI (Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute); FIP (Federation Internationale De-Laprecontrainte); SCI (Steel Construction Institute); UBC (Uniform Building Code); ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and any other specific code as required by the project specifications.

Design & Shop Drawings Activities

a.      Submit shop drawings with complete information for the fabrication and installation of precast concrete units.  Indicate member dimensions and cross section, location, size and type of reinforcement, including lifting devices necessary for handling and erection.

b.      Provide layout, dimensions and identification of each precast unit corresponding to the sequence and procedure of installation.  Indicate welded connections, detail inserts, connections and joints including accessories and construction at opening in precast units.

c.      Provide location and details of anchorage devices that are to be embedded in this and other construction.  

d.      Provide manufacturer’s complete design calculations prepared by a professional engineer.
