The Khalid Corporation represents a classic example of Qatari talent and business acumen, starting with a mere 20 employees and currently employing well in excess of 3,000 people. The goal of senior management has always been to continually diversify its core activities and to promote the Qatari ethic of good business and fairness, and to promote from within wherever possible. Our success reflects the development of our country and we are very proud of this development.
Over the years the company has been involved in many major developments in numerous areas of business. These include, key infrastructure development, residential and commercial property development, scientific and technical services, pharmaceuticals, numerous aspects of engineering and interior design. Group General Manager underlines: “The company course of investment is amid toward International Standards to build Qatar and high Excellence of Management to cope with the Qatari manful development.”
Khalid Cement Industries Complex (KCIC) with its 100,000 M2 of production plant, test laboratories, administrative hub and operational Headquarters is one of the Khalid Corporation’s major achievements. One of the first employees of KCIC was Mr. Salah Ali, who started in 2002 as the Financial Manager but who was also in charge for sales, purchase and procurement in the early days of KCIC. Mr. Salah’s expertise was in accounting and he knew the concrete business very well from his previous working experiences.

Mr. Salah remembers starting at KCIC with 20 workers in the block and interlock division, 9 workers in the readymix division and only 10 employees in the management, including all secretaries and assistants. Today around 1300 employees are working for KCIC in the production and in the management, including the new Marketing, Research & Development and Corporate Governance departments.
The precast division started its work later in 2003. Today it designs, manufactures and erects its precast products. KCIC has its own design department, including a structural design manager, a structural engineer and 12 draftsmen.

In 2003 the KCIC fleet included only 7 transit mixers, and one concrete pump. Today – only 6 years later- more than 86 transit mixers, 16 pumps, 55 cement bulkers, 73 tippers and 6 ‘A’ frame trailers are delivering KCIC-concrete products to our customers. Also the daily production capacities have increased enormously. In 2002 the maximum daily production was 8.000 blocks and 200 m3 ready mix. Today the total maximum daily capacities for all KCIC locations in Qatar are 130.000 blocks and 9,500 m3 ready mix. The precast division can now deliver and handle any erection from 25 up to 110 tons. Since 2004 up to now the total KCIC sales have increased by 800 %.
The mentioned changes demonstrate how fast and successful KCIC has grown recently. Over the last decade, KCIC has played a pioneering role in the fast track development of the national infrastructure, utilising some of the country’s finest ‘state of the art’ plant and machinery. The development and scope of the company has been an effective demonstration of how indigenous raw materials and resources can be harnessed to generate exceptional wealth.
